Kickstart Program
ABOUT
Run by MLSE Foundation and supported by BMO, KickStart is a 12-week program offered in two 6-week cohorts within Toronto Community Housing communities. Through the KickStart program, MLSE Foundation and Toronto Community Housing communities have worked towards providing children access to opportunities where they can thrive, build vibrant communities, and have a positive soccer experience.
WHY NOW?
KickStart focuses on introducing children ages 6 to 14 to the game of soccer and concentrates on physical literacy as well as fundamental skill development. BMO’s sponsorship of the KickStart program enables MLSE Foundation to continue providing equitable access to sport and opportunity for youth facing barriers. Through BMO’s support, KickStart has grown the program from a 5-week program with 170 youth to a 12-week program impacting over 350 youth.

BMO KICKSTART CHANGES LIVES. IT DOESN'T JUST INTRODUCE GAMES AND BUILD SKILLS. IT USES THE GAME OF SOCCER TO BUILD CONFIDENCE & LEADERSHIP CAPABILITIES, WHILE STRENGTHENING COMMUNITY BONDS.
It’s about opportunity. Introducing youth to the game of soccer opens a door. Maybe they gain confidence, maybe they make friends and feel more connected to their neighbours or maybe they unlock a passion that’ll carry them to professional pitches one day.
